How do I sign in to Along for the first time?

When you first sign in, you will be able to explore Along prior to inviting students. When you are ready to invite students, educators and students must use their G Suite for Education school email addresses or a Microsoft Office 365 email for schools and students (One Drive).

Sign Up

  1. Open a supported browser on your computer.
    • While the Along educator experience is optimized for desktop, If you're using a mobile device, please use Chrome or Safari as your browser.

  2. Go to our website and select Sign up for free. You can also create a free account here.


  3. You will have the option to select Student or Educator. Click Educator to continue signing up.
  4. Create a free educator account and sign up using a G Suite for Education school email address or a Microsoft Office 365 email for schools and students (One Drive).Google_and_Microsoft_Log_in_.gif

  5. Start exploring Along! You can explore reflection questions and watch demo videos prior to inviting students.


Finish Setting Up

When are you ready to invite students to Along: 

    1. Click Finish setting up and complete the 3 steps to activate your account: Confirm your school information, Engage your school leader, and Notify guardians. 


    2. Enter your school name. Click Next. 
    3. Engage your school leader and confirm that you will inform your School Leader before using Along with students. Click I confirm.


    4. Notify guardians and download our guardian consent forms to use Along with your students. Click I confirm.


Create a question to invite students

  1. Click a reflection question or create your own question to get started.


  2. After clicking the question, you'll see tips on when and how to use the question. Once you've found the right reflection question for your student(s), click Yes, create invite link.


  3. Click Create Invite link in step 1.

  4. Review the suggested talking points on the right-hand side and record a video or audio message. While this step is optional, recording a video or audio message will help you better engage with your student(s) and give them additional context about the prompt. If you do not wish to record a video or audio message, select Skip recording.

    • Remember to give browser permissions to grant Along access to your camera and microphone.
  5. After you are done recording, click Next.
  6. Click Save and create link at the bottom right corner.

Invite Students

Now it's time to welcome your students in Along! 

  1. After you've created your link, you'll be prompted back to the Steps page. Click Copy invite link in step 2 to copy your link and share with your students. 


  2. Follow the instructions under Get started with students to add them to Along. You can also check out the Additional Resources.


Success! Your account is ready! As soon as students click the link and sign in, they'll show up under Students and can start answering your question.
